BLI 016 HO Scale T1 4-4-4-4 Steam Loco PRR 5517 with DCC QSI Sound

USED

Proposed by Baldwin in the 1930s, duplex drive locos would combine two independent sets of drivers, valve gear and cylinders on a rigid frame. In theory, these engines would be lighter and easier to maintain than a conventional articulated and pull more at higher speeds. Intrigued that the concept could produce a replacement for its legendary K4, Pennsy ordered an experimental 6-4-4-6 streamliner in 1939. This paved the way for two Class T-1 4-4-4-4s delivered in 1942. Totally unique, they were quickly put to work as wartime passenger traffic levels exploded. Based on their success and extensive lab tests, 50 more were ordered in 1946. Pennsy and Baldwin each built 25 locos, but the railroad built all of the enormous tenders. Always tricky to operate and increasingly expensive to maintain, T-1s were soon bumped to lesser trains as diesels took over. Most were stored by 1949 and all were scrapped by 1953.

These models represent production locomotives as they appeared in the 1950s, with proper details including cab interior, tender water scoop and more, and will negotiate 22" radius curves. Models feature great sound in both DC and DCC operations.
