This HO Scale USRA Light 4-6-2 Pacific from Broadway Limited is based on standard WWI-era locomotives that delivered power and speed. The Pacific-type locomotive evolved as the need for power and speed increased. First, the four-wheel leading truck delivered stability at the faster speeds. Second, six tall drivers provided pulling power and speed. Last, a two-wheel trailing truck provided support for a larger firebox. The sum of this design was the 4-6-2 USRA Pacific.

The USRA designation for light and heavy locomotives was a function of the track's ability to withstand weight. Excessive axle weight could damage the rails, loosen fastenings, and also cause damage to the locomotive. The USRA deemed a maximum of 54,000 pounds per axle as a light locomotive. The USRA Light Pacific weighed in at 277,000lbs, with a 73" driver diameter and a boiler pressure of 200lb per inch.

This detailed model features full Paragon3 sound and DCC for realistic sound and motor control complete with back EMF for smooth slow speeds. The Paragon3 sound system works with all Broadway Limited Rolling Thunder(TM) advanced sound systems. Other features include a heavy die cast body and chassis; smooth-running drive, applied details; directional warm white LED lighting and magnetic knuckle couplers. The HO Scale USRA Light 4-6-2 Pacific can be operated on all DCC systems as well as on standard DC railroads (with limited sound functionality). It collects power through the rails. This model has wheels profiled to operate on Code 70 and larger rail and curves of 18" radius or larger are recommended. The detailed electric comes in multiple roadnumbers for each railroad when appropriate.
